Pedagogical approach

Critical thinking

Each week takes a different topic related to AI to show how theoretical frameworks can be applied. This process will help develop your critical thinking through research and dialogue. You will learn how to think before what to think.

Case-grounded analysis

Every topic is anchored in specific case studies spread across the global south. We will take a historically informed comparative perspective to situate these case studies in a broader context. You will learn how to join the dots across examples to build a theoretical framework.

Interdisciplinary dialogue

Sessions draw on political economy, human geography, media and communications, science and technology studies, culture studies and other disciplines. You will learn how to draw from resources across disciplines commensurate to the complexity of what you analyse.

Praxis and reflection

The course asks participants to connect what they learn to their own personal and/or professional contexts. You will develop a public facing output by the end of the course - an essay, an exhibition, a short film etc. These outputs will serve as both assessment and application of learning
